A Special Expedition to Remote Kaimana

The scale and intensity of wildlife impact in the Coral Triangle wilderness is like nothing else on Earth. The effect is to cool the planet, influence the weather globally and contribute to the stability and security of our food industries.

The complexity, diversity and abundance is more than the human brain can comprehend. Three quarters of all the world's hard corals grow in an area only 10% of the size of the Great Barrier Reef. This is the cradle of all marine life on Earth. The entire world's oceans empty through 1,800 islands, fringed with incredible and colourful reef systems, where upwellings push everything into the shallows. It's no coincidence that Raja Ampat is considered one of the most beautiful and diverse marine habitats on Earth.

On this trip, you’ll discover an underwater world filled with a mind-blowing diversity of soft and hard corals, sponges, colourful fish and marine mammals. Heading along the Dampier Strait, we will explore an area known for its high density for marine mammals (and frequently swim with manta rays as well). The itinerary will allow plenty of time for multiple hours each day in the water – and suit any degree of expertise.

About the trip

You’ll see rarely encountered whales and dolphins of species you may never have heard of (and some you have). You’ll snorkel on some of the most precious and beautiful coral reef in the world, while cruising in luxury on a converted wooden sailing ship around a World Heritage listed region and one of the world’s most extraordinary landscapes.

On this expedition Cruise to Raja Ampat we will live aboard the luxurious Pindito with one of Raja Ampat’s most experienced crews. You will see and experience marine life like you’ve never done before.

About
Itinerary
  • Departure day

Pick up before 9AM to board Pindito. If harbour clearance has been given, we depart immediately.

  • Expedition Cruise

We deliberately leave itineraries unpublished as trips tend to unfold a little as we go. Our guests don’t want to leave incredible wildlife encounters and stick to a strct schedule. So we cover shorter overall distances, which gives us scope for real discovery and adventure.

This is why Pindito never has a set itinerary and every cruise is slightly different. We plan our trips and water activities based on weather, tides, currents and what you want to do. Maybe you'd like to visit a village or go paddle-boarding? We have four zodiacs, more than enough for our maximum 16 guests to do what they want to. We even spend some evenings with a cocktail on a remote beach or exploring the stunning scenery, caves and bays. In our opinion, there is no better or more sustainable way, to explore this amazing region.

The trip starts and ends at the locations specified. In the ten full days in between, we will maximise your experience to visit some of the best places to snorkel / dive, and see the region's unique wildlife.

  • Disembark

We reached our final destination the night before and after a final farewell dinner, awake in the morning for transfers to our hotels and flights.
